In a world inhabited by great, majestic creatures, Manny (an acerbic woolly mammoth), Sid (an irreverent, unsocialized sloth) and Diego (a scheming saber-tooth tiger) are an unlikely trio. While the three work together to return a human baby to its family, the saber-tooth has a hidden, ulterior motive: he is leading them into an ambush. An unexpected bond develops along the journey causing Diego to waver on whether to continue with his sinister plan. The foursome's adventures (which include narrow avalanche escapes, battles over food with doomsday dodos, explorations in the mysteries of a diaper and careening through prehistoric roller coaster rides of ice funnels) will bring Diego's internal conflict to a resolution.
