In the Fall of 1991, the "Andrea Gail" left Gloucester, Mass. and headed for the fishing grounds of the North Atlantic. Two weeks later, an event took place that had never occurred in recorded history. When three storms combined into one over the ocean, a storm stronger than any in recorded history was formed, creating waves as tall as a ten-story building. Director Wolfgang Petersen (Das Boot) recreates the staggering reality that the survivors – and victims – went through.
